Isaac Ilyich Levitan (on Russian: Исаак Ильич Левитан, 1860 – 1900) – Russian artist, master of “mood landscape”. Academician of the Imperial Academy of Arts (on Russian: Императорская Академия художеств – ИАХ ,1898).

“Everything was easy for Levitan, however, he worked hard, with great endurance…” – recalled his friend, the famous painter Mikhail Nesterov (on Russian: Михаил Нестеров).

**“Birch Grove”** (on Russian: **«Берёзовая роща»**) – a painting by Russian artist Isaac Levitan (1860-1900), realised in a period of 4 years (1885-1889). The painting is part of the collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery.
